A lot of rumors had been swirling around lately regarding the big green guy's role in the larger Avenger's narrative going forward. After Dr Banner's alter ego was such a smashing success in last year's "The Avengers" Hulk fans the world over hoped that he'd get an expanded role in Phase 2 as it moved forward, with the hottest rumor being that Marvel was considering basing part of the Avengers II narrative on the Planet Hulk comic book story.
Well Joss Whedon has heard the rumors as well and his response? "... that's nonsense." Not a lot of ways you can read that other than "Not gonna happen." Still maybe it's for the best. After all, two Hulk films have come and gone and barely caused a ripple in the cinematic pond during their runs. Could be that, for whatever reason, audiences prefer the big guy in little doses.
