There was speculation that a deal between Lionsgate and Hunger Games director Gary Ross would be made any day now, announcing Ross would be back for the Hunger Games sequel "Catching Fire". Turns out there was an announcement alright but it wasn't what a lot of people wanted to hear because Ross has decided to move on. Here is part of the statement he released through Lionsgate.
"Despite recent speculation in the media, and after difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct Catching Fire. As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule."
There is no word yet on who Lionsgate has in mind to replace Ross.
