"Jurassic Park 4" on hold

Following a couple of days of wild rumors that ran the gamut from "everything's fine" to "JP4 cancelled" Universal has finally issued an official statement regarding the newest installment in their dinosaur franchise. Here it is via jurassicpark4-movie

In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal's beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history.

Not sure how "couldn't be more excited" equals "release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date" but hey. If you say so. Another article on the jurassicpark-movie site states that the film is on a temporary hiatus and that several members of the production team have apparently been furloughed.

So the bottom line seems to be that the film is on hold while behind the scenes issues get worked out. If nothing else it seems pretty safe to scratch the previously announced release date of June 13, 2014 off your calendar while we wait and see if and when production resumes.

Not everyone's okay with being furloughed
