"Killing Them Softly" with Brad Pitt moves to November

Originally slated for release October 19 Andrew Dominik's crime drama about a heist on a mob poker game that doesn't exactly work out is moving to November 30. Speaking to deadline Harvey Weinstein wasn't trying to conceal anything as to why he decided on the move.

“In this industry it is a very rare event to look at a weekend where your movie could open as the only wide release picture,” he said. “November 30th will allow us to bring Killing Them Softly to a wide audience without competition. Additionally, the critical response to the movie has been very favorable especially on the amazing performances and November 30th positions us better in the Awards season calendar.”

So he wants better box office and he also wants to position his star, Brad Pitt, squarely in the sights of Oscar voters.  The film also stars Scoot McNairy, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins and Ray Liotta.
