"The Counselor" viral piece with Michael Fassbender
This vignette is apparently designed to fill in some background of Michael Fassbender's character for the soon-to-be-released Ridley Scott film. Not sure if you'll see any of this in the movie since the youtube blurb says no yet Natalie Dormer (the blond seen here) is listed on the movie's IMDB page as being part of the cast.

Thor returns, Jane gets whiny in new "Thor 2" clip
Apparently dealing with chaos in the 9 realms and saving humanity from Loki's intergalactic mercenary army isn't enough for some people. In this clip from the upcoming "Thor: The Dark World" the god of thunder must deal with his most formidable opponent yet; a lady who's staked a claim to him after little more than some sweet talk and a kiss in the desert. Time to give Darcy a second look.

Michael Bay assaulted: The story from Hong Kong
As you may have heard Michael Bay was assaulted in Hong Kong yesterday while filming "Transformers 4" in the Chinese territory. Reports have been sketchy but most have alleged the attack was carried out by a pair of brothers who were unimpressed with compensation the film crew offered to local merchants to make up for the inconvenience of effectively shutting down their neighborhood to shoot.
Now comes this video report from Hong Kong television which goes into things in a bit more detail, alleging the brothers were actually gang members intent on extortion. Take a look.

First clip from Terry Gilliam's "The Zero Theorum"
It's been an excruciatingly slow month (or so) for things movie-related ever since WB and DC basically threw in the towel on Batman for the foreseeable future. Thank god Terry Gilliam's latest is beginning to stick its head above water and give us some anticipatory love. In this first clip from the film Christoph Waltz has a bit of an existential crisis brought on by trying to go about your business in what looks like your average 21st century city (except that the traffic is actually moving).
Shot in Bucharest the clip tries to speak to Gilliam's assertion that "The future has come and met us, we actually don’t live in the present anymore, we live in the future because it’s happening so quickly." Sounds about right.
The film still does not have a US release date though it'll be debuting in parts of Europe around the end of the year. We'll keep an eye on it.

One last clip from "Pacific Rim"
In this clip a heavily damaged Jaeger makes a surprise appearance in Alaska in the aftermath of a Kaiju encounter. Looks amazing! Last part of this video is basically a tacked-on mini trailer.

"Elbow rocket! Now!" - new "Pacific Rim" clip
"Are you ready to rrrrrrumbllllllllleeee?"
Grab the kids, pack a lunch and head down to the dockside cause it's giant monster vs giant robot with no holds barred! In this latest clip from Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim" the Jaegermeisters unveil the dreaded "elbow rocket". But wait! The Kaiju counters with the always painful "crane bat"!
"Pacific Rim" opens in a scant 2 weeks, on July 12th.

New clip from "World War Z"
The obligatory "you're our best guy" piece of exposition. Let's hope this scene is sandwiched between lots of marauding zombies!

New clip from "Iron Man 3"
Tony gets all vulnerable in this clip from the upcoming release, emoting toward Pepper (Commando) Potts about how his world has changed "since New York" and how he's really just "a man in a can". Gee, now that you put it that way...
Look for the canned man to hit theaters next weekend.

New clip from "Star Trek Into Darkness" - UPDATED
The promo clips are flying out of Paramount's marketing department as we close in on the May 17th release date for "Star Trek Into Darkness". This clip is oozing with naughty overtones and reminds me just a bit of another scene from another sci-fi movie. Hmmmm...
UPDATE: After creating this post I found a Japanese teaser trailer (below) for "Into Darkness" that contains some previously unseen footage. Rather than create yet another "Into Darkness" post I'm adding it to this one. Enjoy!

Sound design featurette for "Oblivion"
This 10 minute long, eleventh-hour featurette from "Oblivion" focuses on sound but what really captures my attention is the look of the film. I can't wait to see it.

"Godzilla" production featurette
"Godzilla" is still over a year away but production is well underway in Canada and now we have the first full featurette from the location. While the audio focuses almost exclusively on the benefits of Vancouver as a destination for Hollywood projects if you mute said audio you get an interesting, extended glance behind the curtain. This version of the tale of the iconic reptile from the deep is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Ken Watanabe and Juliette Binoche. It's due in theaters May 2014.

4 featurettes for "Oblivion" starring Tom Cruise
The producers of "Oblivion" have released a batch of featurettes that touch on design and story aspects of the film. While it's dangerous to judge a book by its cover the fact is that "Oblivion", as seen in these short promotional pieces, has an incredibly beautiful cover. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the substance lives up to the packaging.
"Oblivion" opens April 19th.

Deleted scenes from "The Avengers"
I don't know how long these will be up before the lawyers strike but for what it's worth here are two deleted scenes from "The Avengers" care of Marvel’s ‘Phase One’ Collector’s Edition.
The first clip is an extended dialogue between Loki and "The Other" regarding Loki's plans for earthly conquest and rule. It seems his otherworldly ally's faith in him may not be as strong as he's like it to be, but they throw their hat into the ring with him nonetheless.
The second clip is a very brief featurette on the origins and execution of the now-famous "schwarma" scene.

Oh yeah! That's a big-ass spider alright
A few weeks ago we presented you the trailer for "Big Ass Spider" another in the long history of "There's an pissed-off, oversized creature loose in the city" flicks. It looked pretty cool then and it looks even cooler in this clip just released through SXSW. (Somebody get that boy some spider block!)

New "Star Trek Into Darkness" TV spot
I'm calling it a TV spot because it ends like a TV spot, though it starts like a trailer. So who knows? All I really know is that it's all action all the time in this new whatever-it-is for JJ Abrams sci-fi sequel. The villain (that would be Benedict Cumberbatch's character) gets shoved to the side in favor of Kirk getting lectured by Pike on what a PITA he is while various crew members push the pedal to the medal on anything that's available. Looks good.

New TV spot for "Dead Man Down"
The film stars Noomi Rapace and Colin Farrell and is directed by Niels Arden Oplev who helmed the original "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". The story centers around a woman (NR) who coerces a guy (CF) into helping her kill someone she apparently doesn't like very much (that would be Terrence Howard's character in the film). Looks stylish and bloody. Can't wait.
"Dead Man Down" opens March 8th.
