New "Man of Steel" featurette

I've never been a huge Superman fan. A lot of that has to do with the cheesecake way he's been treated - especially in the cinematic world - up to now. But this take on ol' Kal-el has me intrigued. Maybe it's just heaviosity fatigue, maybe its that Zack Snyder and Co seem to have done a pretty good job making simple virtues seem interesting: at least so far. Will the finished product live up to the promo materials? We'll find out in a couple of weeks. In the meantime enjoy this featurette.

"Man of Steel" opens June 14th.

"Machete Kills" trailer

Looks like everything a Machete fan could ask for. Hot, dangerous babes, gallons of blood, lots of formerly animated biomass and Carlos Estevez as POTUS. Bring it on!

"Machete Kills" slices and dices its way into theaters this September.

Ahnuld speaks on "Terminator 5" status

The under appreciated "Terminator Salvation" served to bring the franchise to a grinding halt a couple of years ago. Since then though the Impregnator has returned to Hollywood and with him came expectations that he'd somehow try to revive his signature role. A few months ago confirmation came that Ahnuld would be back for T5 and now he's given a (very brief) update on the film's progress in a conversation with metro UK.

MUK: What can you tell us about Terminator 5?
Schwarzenegger: We’re writing it now. There are three projects being written that involve me. One is Terminator 5, the other is a Conan movie that Universal is doing and there’s the sequel to Twins, which is called Triplets. We’ll all look quite different in that. The third triplet is Eddie Murphy, so figure that one out.

New clip from "World War Z"

The obligatory "you're our best guy" piece of exposition. Let's hope this scene is sandwiched between lots of marauding zombies!

New TV spots for "Man of Steel"

Both of these new spots contain some previously unseen footage. I think the highlight for me is in the second spot where Supes goes all heat-ray vision. It's about time!

Here's a still from the 2nd spot will Kal-el bringing the heat!

TV spot 2 for "Pacific Rim"

I'm excited for this film because it looks to me like someone finally got the whole "angry giant rises from the sea and rains destruction on the modern world" thing right. Could it be? I hope I hope I hope. As for this TV spot: it has several new snippets not seen in the trailers, which automatically makes it worth a look.

"Pacific Rim" rises July 12th.

Off the beaten track trailer of the day - "The Act of Killing"

"I'm a winner!"
I beg to differ.

Official blurb: In this chilling and inventive documentary, executive produced by Errol Morris (The Fog of War) and Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), the filmmakers examine a country where death squad leaders are celebrated as heroes, challenging them to reenact their real-life mass killings in the style of the American movies they love. The hallucinatory result is a cinematic fever dream, an unsettling journey deep into the imaginations of mass murderers and the shockingly banal regime of corruption and impunity they inhabit. Shaking audiences at the 2012 Toronto and Telluride Film Festivals, The Act of Killing is an unprecedented film and, according to the Los Angeles Times, "could well change how you view the documentary form.
