New TV spot for "Riddick"

Looks like the new movie will have a lot more in common with "Pitch Black" than it will with "Chronicles of Riddick", which is just fine with me.

El blurbo: Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Nothing like a "vicious attack of vengeance" I always say.

I don't want to jinx Del Toro's film or anything but it looks like the giant monster movie I've been waiting my entire life for. Will it be? Only time will tell but my fingers are firmly crossed.

It's global chaos as cockroach-zombies maraud through the streets of the world's great cities in this new, compact TV spot for WWZ. It also includes a couple of previously unseen snippets.

New "Man of Steel" featurette

I've never been a huge Superman fan. A lot of that has to do with the cheesecake way he's been treated - especially in the cinematic world - up to now. But this take on ol' Kal-el has me intrigued. Maybe it's just heaviosity fatigue, maybe its that Zack Snyder and Co seem to have done a pretty good job making simple virtues seem interesting: at least so far. Will the finished product live up to the promo materials? We'll find out in a couple of weeks. In the meantime enjoy this featurette.

Both of these new spots contain some previously unseen footage. I think the highlight for me is in the second spot where Supes goes all heat-ray vision. It's about time!

I'm excited for this film because it looks to me like someone finally got the whole "angry giant rises from the sea and rains destruction on the modern world" thing right. Could it be? I hope I hope I hope. As for this TV spot: it has several new snippets not seen in the trailers, which automatically makes it worth a look.

Up to this point most of the trailers/clips for Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" have focused on Clark's existential crisis but finally here in this new TV spot we get a sense of the film's action, and it looks pretty intense.

"Iron Man" (and his attendant box office success) was the obvious influence when it came to naming this film "Man of Steel" but the influences pretty much stop there. While Tony Stark is a smarmy, spoiled, self-important little jerk (not that there's anything wrong with that) Kal-el - aka Clark Kent - is his polar opposite: sober-minded, deferential, humble and self-sacrificing. In this new trailer we hear Jor-el (Russell Crowe) exhort his son to be the one thing Tony could care less about being: a role model.

Zach Snyder directs Crowe, Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon and Diane Lane in this Christopher Nolan production.

Guillermo del Toro makes his bid to join the short list of blockbuster directors with "Pacific Rim". The Kaiju, gi-normous creatures from beyond, run roughshod o'er the earth until mankind pulls it together to make a last stand with our own monsters: giant, remotely-controlled robots called Jaegars. Okay, so it looks like "Transformers" meets "Cloverfield". It also looks like 917 pounds of fun!
